Dear Everest Marathon Runners,
Thank you for participating in the 2024 Mount Everest Marathon to celebrate the 71st Anniversary of the successful Everest Climb by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. Your presence and enthusiasm helped make this Event a memorable and inspiring Tribute to these Legendary Pioneers.
This Year’s Everest Event may also remind us of the “Battle of Marathon” that occurred around 490 BC during the First Persian Invasion of Greece.
Inspired by the Legendary RUN of the Greek Soldier Pheidippides from the Mediterranean Sea Level Coastal Beach of the Marathon Flat Grassland to the Capital of Athens, a Nepalese Dreamer called “Bikram” brought this Sea Level Running Episode to the Height of Mount Everest (8848.86m) as the World’s Highest Trail Running Sports Event, creating it as Mount Everest Marathon, dedicating to 2 Great Souls of the Mankind, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Ed Hillary, who stood over the Top Mount Everest, the Highest Point of the Planet Earth on May 29, 1953.
Says Bikram, the Creator of the Everest Marathon Event, from Pheidippides, the Greek Soldier, to PandeKaaji, Son of a Gorkhali Soldier, whose History shows that while Alexander the Great & his Troops overran the Entire Eastern Bank of the Jhelum River in today’s Punjab, the Gorkhali Soldiers had expanded their Territory to the Western Bank of the same River “Jhelum” in the present day Punjab across Pakistan India Cross Borders.
Everest Marathon has multiple social missions, such as Saving the Environment and protecting the habitat of the Endangered Highland Musk Deer Population by planting Rhododendron Barbatum Tree Saplings in their Highland Habitat. This effort supports the Nature-created Ecosystem, ensuring the Musk Deers producing a multiplied population.
This year, our Chief Guests included HE Naveen Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, who planted trees alongside Australian Ambassador to Nepal, HE Felicity Volk, and Ms Lisa Choegyal, Honorary Consul of Sir Edmund Hillary’s Country New Zealand.
Dr. Sindhu Prasad Dhungana, Director General of the Department of National Parks, Government of Nepal, also joined the Ambassadors in planting tree saplings. Our mission’s goal is to protect Mount Everest Himalaya Massif Environment against climate change to save the fast melting of Himalayan Glaciers and preserve the Glacial Lakes.
Let us celebrate the 72nd Anniversary of Mount Everest and Honour the Legacies of these Two Great Souls of Mankind, as proposed by Tenzing Norgay’s Grandson Mr Tashi Tenzing Sherpa back in 2003 in Namche Bazar Village while addressing the Audience as Chairperson of the First Everest Marathon organized on May 19, celebrating the Everest Golden Jubilee Year Event of 2003.
See you next year.

Dear Everest Marathon Runners,
RE: This year will be MOUNT EVEREST (8848.86m) MARATHON 2022.
We have the pleasure to bring this news to you that we are all set to run our TenzingHillary Everest Marathon this year on May 29, 2022, in the name of New Height & New Higher “Mount Everest, (8848.86m) Marathon 2022.”
Mount Everest has shot up higher than it was climbed on May 29, 1953, by Late Sir Edmund Hillary and Late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. The Government has announced the new height of the higher Mount Everest in 2020 which was caused by the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015.
We all agree that we are environmentally conscious Marathon Runners. We the Marathon Runners do not wish to leave any negative impact on the highland of Mount Everest Valley. We always want to save the Himalayas and their natural pristine beauty from climate change for the future generations.
That is why Bikram, the Concept Man and the Event creator of “TezingHillary Everest Marathon” back in 2003, has come out with a new conservation agenda this time with you all, the Marathon Runners of 2022. The Mission is to Save the Environment to protect & expand the Habitat of the Endangered species of the Himalayan Musk Deer. In this context, Bikram has designed, a Banner to invite the attention of the whole world to “Come Together” as The Beatles sang, to plant trees in the Mount Everest basin, and leave nothing but the Goodwill in the Himalaya’s Heartland.
This year we encourage you all to plant Rhododendron BARBATUM, one of the favorite species, which the endangered Musk Deer enjoy so much as their nutritious diet. Together, let us be a part of this Great Mission, greening the planet Earth, as our Gift to all Mankind.
“Plant a Tree for someone you LOVE, Plant a Tree for everyone who LOVES your passion, saving Mother Earth from the Climate Change.”
“Plant a Tree for someone who LOVES you, Plant for the Planet!”
Welcome Aboard! See you soon in Kathmandu!
