A NON-RUNNER

Each year hundreds of participants and non-runners join the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon to witness the world’s highest marathon. Lukla to Everest Base Camp is itself a challenge, marathon is second. Trek start from Lukla, continue to Namche, and reach to Gorakshep by trekking through Deboche, Dingboche and Lobuche. From Gorakhshep, all runners will be heading towards Everest Base Camp 5,364m whereas non-runners trek down to Namche and witness the event from finish line.

However before trekking back to Dingboche, all non-runner participants will also climb Kala Patthar (a small peak literally meaning “Black Rock” which is located right at the foot of Pumori 7,161m) a view spot at 5,545m prior to the race for spectacular views of Mt. Everest 8,848m, Nuptse 7,861m, Lhotse 8,516m and other mountains that are visible in a panoramic structure. Once descending at the finish line you will be able to meet Namche Woman’s Group, who organizes traditional dance, yak dance, entertainment and food for the runners at race day.
